Taiwan 2015 Day 4: [[ Yeliu 野柳 ]]

Our last attraction for this trip is to Yeliu geopark 野地質公園. Yeliu is a cape in the town of Wanli between Taipei and Keelung. Yeliu consists of many natutal limestone structures, of which, the Queen's head is the most famous of all.

Yeliu geopark 野地質公園
Taipei West Bus Station Terminal 1, Exit K12 of Taipei Main Station , journey 1 hr, NT$96, operated by kuo kuang

Alight at busstop opposite police station, walk about 10-15min from main road (towards sea)

Since the stop doesn't stop right at Yeliu, you won't be able to see it. It will be good to ask the bus driver politely to inform you when it is time to alight. We did that and the friendly bus driver did remember to inform us when it was time to alight. :)

After some distance of walking, we finally arrived. After purchasing the admission ticket (NT$50), we started our stroll through the geopark. In all honesty, despite it being rather small and repetitive in the stone formations, Yeliu is really pretty! It reminds me of the Pinnacles in Western Australia! Perhaps it's just me being bias towards nature. :X
The minature Queen's head aka the Princess stone at the start of the park. Do take a photo here! The real Queen's head can be seen later out in the open cape area, however, it requires quite a bit of queuing for that 5 seconds of photo opportunity. Better to have a Princess first than to have none at the end of the day!
 Beautiful isn't it?
It is against the rules of the park to stand on any stones. Not sure if sitting is forbidden too. The park keeper did not chide me off when he saw me sitting and cam whoring. I guess it's ok? :P
This is the legendary Queen's Head! We saw it from afar since we did not want to spend time queuing. So here's a zoom in photo of it!
Here's a photo of us with it, from afar!
After about an hour of exploring, we stopped by a mini cafe/pitstop to have a cup of Mango shavings to cool ourselves.
We continued to explore the park for another half hour before we saw the exit and left the park, into a makretplace selling lots of dried products, mainly cuttlefish.
Not knowing how to choose, we left without buying any food products. We took a bus back to Taipei and headed to the Xinmeng Red House 西门红樓 for its weekend flea market.
Xinmeng Red House 西门红樓
No. 10, Chengdu Rd, Wanhua District, 台北市 Taiwan 108
Opens: 11.30am to 9.30pm

Full of arty-farty stuff! Very similar to those at Huashan creative park.
We headed to Shida night market 师大夜市 for the rest of the day before returning to the hotel to pack up for our flight home.

Lane 44, Taishun St, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

Take the Green Line to Taipower Building Station (台電大樓). After leaving Exit 3, make a right turn, then make another quick right to reach Shi-Da Road (師大路). The market is located along both Shi-Da road and in the alleys off both sides.

Once we arrived, this crepe store greeted us. Temptation sets in and we bought a crepe to share. It was so good! :)
We headed off to the shopping streets to shop. Shida consist of many trendy and chic shops selling very affordable clothings! It's a great place to grab office wears! Tops and bottoms are generally going for SGD$15 to SGD$20.
We ended our day earlier and took away dinner to our hotel to eat and pack our luggage.
It has been a great short 4 days revisit to Taiwan! It would have been more enjoyable if the heat wave was not so bad! It was suppose to be turning spring when we went in early April. However, there was heat wave and the weather was pretty hot, just like Singapore! If you ask me, it was not so fun being out in the sun all day~

Hope you enjoyed reading our 4 days adventure in Taiwan!
