Korea Day 6: Busan [[Nampodong Street + Yongdusan Park + Busan Tower + Gwangbok-dong Cultural & Fashion Street + Jagalchi Market + Gwangalli beach]]

Mr Kwek and I took the 6.40am train to Busan. Journey took us approximately 3hours from Seoul. By the time we reached Busan at 9.30am, the sun had raised high up in the sky and weather was slightly on the warmer side.

We made reservation at Toyoko Inn Busan Station 1 which is a stopover fuss-free inn. It is conveniently located beside Busan train station, opposite a small road. Very easy to spot. The only down side, its check in is at 4pm and check out is at 10am. We were fine with this timing since we had planned for a morning of activities and were allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel lobby.

Yongdusan Park + Busan Tower
Directions: Nampo-dong Station Exit 1, walk 10 min. Opening Hours: 0900-2200

Ticket price to observatory in Busan Tower: 4000won

First stop, we headed to Yongdusan Park where Busan Tower is situated.
After walking around exploring and taking photos in the park, we headed up to Busan Tower to the observatory to see the skyscape of Busan. View was not the best as it was foggy the day we went.
We made our way down to the terrace where all the love locks/tags were! :) once again, we purchased a lock and a tag to leave a piece of our love in lovely Busan! :)

Jagalchi Market

Directions: Jagalchi Station, Exit 10. Turn right onto Jagalchi 3(sam)-gil Street.Walk for 5min, then turn left. Hours: 0800-2200
Next we headed to Jagalchi Market for lunch since Mr Kwek was hungry. Jagalchi market looks just like our local fresh food market! On level one, its all the wet market stalls. Level two is where you sit and eat the sashimi. Mr Kwek and I did not do any research on ordering hence we ended up ordering a sashimi set meal for two at a random stall with many local folks. To our dismay, or at least mine (being a sashimi fan), the sashimi was not as nice as we imagined it to be! :(
Nevertheless, finally got to try Korean sashimi that we always see on running man!
Gwangbok-dong Cultural & Fashion Street
Directions: Nampo-dong Station Exit 1. Turn right and walk along Gudeongno22beon-gil st for 2 blocks

After the not so fulfilling meal, we left for Gwangbok-dong cultural & fashion street for some window shopping and more food! Shops are pretty repetitive here, hence our main focus was the street food! We had fun feasting ourselves silly by the streets and trying the various street snacks! :)
Soon it was time for check-in. We made our way back to the hotel to check-in and rest awhile before making our way out after sunset to Gwangalli beach for fireworks! :)
Gwangalli Beach:
Directions: Busan Station to Gwangan (Line 1, transit at Seomyoen to Line 2, 16 stops, ~36min Exit 5.  Once you go up the stairs of the exit, turn right down the street. walk about 7 blocks to the beach.. About 5min to Gwangalli beach.
Gwangalli beach was a long ride from Busan station. Also, it was quite difficult to find! It took us sometime to make our way to the beach. However, once we were there, the effort was all worthwhile!
The beach was awesome! With the night lights from the bridge and the buildings around, it was a joyous night place to be with your other half or with your friends! Little cafes dotted along the road opposite the beach! While some people were people watching from the cafes, others were sitting around the beach talking and playing with fireworks and sparkle sticks! :)
There were many vendors around the beach selling fireworks and sparkle sticks! With much excitement, Mr Kwek and I first purchased a firework stick then the sparkle sticks! It was so much fun! :) *Highly recommended!*
As the night got later, the wind got stronger, after having much fun on the beach, Mr Kwek and I decided to head into one of the café for some cake and hot drink to warm ourselves up! :)
This pretty much summed up the second last day of our trip as we people watched the night away before rushing to take the last train back to our hotel! :)  Stay tune to my last entry on our Korea trip which we were very lucky to be guided by Mr Kwek's Korean friend! :)
